A delicious, drinkable Mourvèdre made by Gilles Lapalus in Victoria. Handpicked and wild fermented as 100% whole bunches, unoaked, unfined, unfiltered. Originally from Burgundy, Lapalus moved to Victoria in 2001 working to develop Sutton Grange. The Bertrand Bespoke range are artisanal, fun wines to drink now. Grapes are sourced from neighborhood vineyards and the wines are made with minimal addition, low intervention, and with respect to the environment and time.

Glossary

Mourvèdre

Known as Mataro in California and Monastrell in Spain, Mourvèdre can produce bold, tannic, highly alcoholic red wines. They usually show no shortage of fruit as well, and the best examples keep it all in perfect balance. Rhône-style blends are cropping up all over the world, and one of the classic tried-and-true combinations is "GSM," or Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre. The "M" contributes focus and fleshy character to blends - but Mourvèdre also shines on its own as a varietal wine.

Australian Shiraz (made from the grape called “Syrah” in other parts of the world) shows the essence of the outback: it’s big, bold, and a little rough around the edges. The vast country leaves lots of room for variation, however, with its many terroirs each yielding distinctively styled wines.
