Wine made from grapes grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and herbicides in the vineyard.
Podere Trinci is a winery in Bolgheri with just a hectare of vines making just handfuls of of this wine each year. Bolgheri is the most prestigious area of Tuscany thanks to Tenuta San Guido's Sassicaia putting the area on the map. This is a Super Tuscan made of Bordeaux varieties. Its generous nature will work alongside a ribeye.
Tuscan wines can be rooted in old world tradition with elegance and restraint. They can also be powerful, weighty wines for the world stage. Podere Trinci's Carmina Arvalia is definitely in the latter category. It's made from a blend of international red grapes that were hand-harvested in the hot sun of Bolgheri, which is the seat of the Super Tuscan throne. Cabernet Franc has remained close to its roots in France, enjoying small pockets of popularity primarily in the Loire Valley (specifically in Chinon), where it is often bottled as a varietal...
The result of an illicit affair a hundred-odd years ago between Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon today enjoys more worldwide popularity than both of its parents combined. It is the principal grape of Bordeaux, and as such has rightly earned its place among the greatest and most long-lived wines of the Old World; of course, it is also the most heralded grape of California,...
When you think of Tuscan wine, think of Sangiovese, the grape that is common to most great Tuscan reds (Vernaccia is the only white wine made here). Brunello di Montalcino, one of the most complex expressions of Sangiovese, has the best aging potential. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano shows the softer side of the grape, containing up to 20% of other varieties. Young Chianti often smells of fresh...
