The Carricante vineyard for this wine was planted in the late 1800s making these centurian vines some of the oldest on the mountain. This plot is planted in the Caselle area within Milo on the eastern slopes of Etna at an elevation of 800 meters. Family-owned for the past 3 generations and now under the direction of Alfio Cosentino . The vineyard is densely planted at 9000 vines per hectare. This, in addition to the old vines makes for an exquisite and elegant white wine. Unoaked.

An exceptional Etna Bianco and an enigma of a wine. It's completely dry and light-bodied, yet inversely concentrated and powerful; subtle yet confident. The aromas are floral with misty ocean air. On the palate, the wine is exquisitely tart with salinity and razor-sharp acidity. Lemon rinds, ripe quince, anise seed, rock salt—the flavors are endless. The designation “Etna Bianco Superiore” on the label means that it comes from gnarled, old vines of Carricante in the Caselle district surrounding the town of Milo. These vineyards are on the eastern side of Mount Etna and the volcanic minerals in the soil impart an undeniably savory quality to the wines that can only come from this small part of the world.
