Rkatsiteli is the the most planted white grape variety in Georgia. This orange wine was made a plot of 60 year old vines planted in the village of Tibaani located 400 meters above sea level. Light gold in color. On the palate, this has a solid structure with minerals which comes from the high mineral nature of the soils which were a former river bank centuries ago.

Georgian wine may have some serious history behind it, but what always strikes me is the sheer joy inherent in every bottle. It's like they sprinkle the wines with some kind of fairy dust. This orange wine from Nekresi Estate is no exception. The grapes come from 60-year-old vines planted at altitude, giving the wine a concentrated richness and steely acidity. The long maceration brings out honeyed apricot and orange blossom aromas, while the palate is textured and minerally. It's a knockout wine, great for your next dinner party when you want to add a little Georgian magic.
