Bourgogne Aligoté, Prudhon

Bourgogne Aligoté, Prudhon - 2019

Item # 44300 750mL

Prudhon’s exemplary Aligote comes from two plots—one in Saint-Aubin and one in Puligny-Montrachet—totaling just under a half-hectare. The vines are between 30 and 60 years old. The wine is aged in stainless steel and bottled on the early side to preserve freshness. Enjoy with cod fritters.

Aligoté

The "other" white grape of Burgundy, Aligoté plays a struggling second fiddle to the regal white grape of the region, Chardonnay. Older Aligoté vines have been known to produce wines of high quality, displaying lovely citrusy and at times nutty characteristics - but even so, the remaining plantings of the grape are fast being uprooted to make even more space for the cultivation of Chardonnay.
