Soave Vigna Vecia, Le Albare - 2019

Item # 44711 750mL

This comes from old vines of Garganega planted on the volcanic soils of Monteforte d'Alpone. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are dried before pressing, fermenting and then aging in large barrels. This is a full-bodied and dry white wine that is full of marzipan aromas. Goes hand-in-hand with a pork loin.

Staff Pick Notes

Linden trees (AKA Lime trees) just finished blooming in New York and I could not get enough of them this year! I returned to a particular spot more than once to pluck clusters of blossoms from the trees so I could enjoy the aromas for a period more extended than just passing underneath their aromatic canopy. When I smelled this wine, the magical perfume of the tiny white Linden flowers was the first thing that popped into my head. Coupled with ripe stone fruit and a unique hint of spice from fruit allowed to dry before pressing, the rich aromas really pull you into the glass before you even taste it. Made from old vines grown on volcanic soils, this wine demonstrates great balance between age and freshness. All of these things combined make for an exciting quaff if you ask me.
