Staff Pick Notes

High up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Madson Winery focuses on an organic farm approach and their impact on the local ecosystem. Leasing vineyards, instead of buying grapes, gives them a hands-on approach in farming and expresses each vineyard to its full potential. The Madson Santa Cruz Pinot Noir is a blend of vineyards ranging from 640 ft. to its highest vineyard, Ascona Vineyard, at 2500 ft. The combination of elevation and the cool Monterey Bay breezes keeps this wine fresh and bright. A beautiful purity of crunchy red fruit, cranberries, pomegranate, and red cherry makes every sip as lively as the last. Using seasoned oak, there are no dominating oak notes, while notes of fresh potting soil, eucalyptus and crushed rock instead mingle with fresh red flowers. This wine is about balance and elegance, a true Burgundian-style Pinot Noir
