Vernaccia "Fiore," Montenidoli - 2021

Item # 48454 750mL

This Vernaccia from the hilltop town of San Gimignano has notes of ripe lemons and melon, while remaining dry on the finish. This wine is very fresh and is great as an apéritif or with lighter fare. The "Fiore" bottling from Montenidoli is made from the free-run juice and therefore is a more elegant style.

The lower half of the estate (200-400m elevation) is blessed with sandy, calcareous soils and studded with ancient oyster shells. Inspired by an uncle who brought her whites from Burgundy, Elizabetta recognized the potential for Vernaccia vines. Here’s a wine that offers many layers of flavors, sensations, and textures. I call this a "yes" wine. Looking for fruit? Citrus? Stone fruit? Tropical? You got it. Herbs? Yes. Minerality? Richness? Salinity? Lively acidity? Ageability? Yes, yes, yes! Yes! YES!
