From Master Distiller Carlos Camarena comes a first class series of tequilas called El Tesoro. The co-founder of Tequila Ocho brings peerless skill to his creations, usually beautifully refined Reposados and Añejos that speak to his lineage as a fifth-generation tequilero. Yet while tasting through El Tesoro's offerings, I just couldn't get past how utterly perfect his Blanco tequila is. Many attempt to create the "smoothest" tequila possible, but in doing so often strip the spirit of its complexity, bite, and agave character. This splendid silver however is not only smooth as can be, but flavorful, balanced, complex, and an absolute delight to sip. Sweet agave, delicate salinity, and herbaceous notes of aloe and mint make for a top of the line Blanco that is not to be overlooked.

Glossary

Blanco

White tequila, an official type (tipo) for tequila bottled fresh from the still, or allowed to rest in stainless steel tanks for up to sixty days before bottling. It is never aged in wooden barrels. Also known as plata, plato, and silver tequila. Usually the most robust, strong-flavoured of the tequila types.
