Maurin Quina

We’ve all seen this bottle on the back of a fancy cocktail bar and its label is iconic whether you are a fan of spirits or not, but what’s really going on inside? The base is a white wine fortified with cherry brandy. Additional flavors of wild cherry, lemon, almond and quinine complete the profile. Quinine has both its fans and detractors. It is most easily recognized as the bittering agent in tonic water - also providing its polarizing flavor. If you land on the side of enjoyment when it comes to quinine, then give Maurin Quina a go as an aperitif or in your next gin cocktail. It certainly plays well with vodka too. And if lower ABV cocktails suit you best, don’t shy away from mixing it with white vermouth and soda. Yes, the label looks great, but now you need a bottle to use for your own bar!
