I have a very strong memory of a cinnamon-spiced orange and black tea that my family drank while I was growing up. To me it tastes like those gilded childhood memories of holidays with family that are so tinged with nostalgia that you can't imagine enjoying anything as purely as that again.
The Bittermans Hiver Amer, with its sweet cinnamon and slightly bitter, burnt orange really brought me back, this time in a cocktail instead of tea.
In a Manhattan, use half the sweet vermouth and replace the other half with Hiver Amer for blissful, drinkable, holiday nostalgia.
