Staff Pick Notes

This is my favorite rye for making my Manhattans. This and Carpano Antica Formula is an awesome combination. Generally drier (than bourbon), and with a spicier grain characteristic, rye often makes for a versatile and interesting cocktail base. This straight rye whiskey is a new single barrel offering from the Willett family. Emphasis on the single barrel bottling, so there is a lot of individual bottle variation. From my bottle I get wonderful citrus, grain, vanilla, brine and almost evergreen qualities. I am even tempted to say pickles upon my first impression. Overall, a very robust and flavorful whiskey. Bottled cask-strength (again, this is will vary with each bottle) so don't hesitate to add water when drinking it on its own. Cheers, Stephen W.
