I had the chance to taste Kavaklan whiskies years ago with the late Dr. Jim Swan here at Astor. What a treat to experience this. His hand has touched many distillers and they have all benefited from his knowlege and direction. Kavalan is a perfect example. The Classic is absolutely perfect. Balanced and flavorful with malted notes and slight fruit tones put a smile on my face! As it opens in the glass after a few minutes complex brown sugar notes appear pulling me deeper in. Delicate spice and soft palate feel make this a tasty sipping whisky that I crave.
