This four-year-old whiskey is a re-creation of an old Alabama Style post-war benchmark developed by Clyde May. The sweeter upfront notes are reined in by tangy Granny Smith, graham cracker, and toasted pecans. Very easy drinking and full of lovable character.
This is a fun one. Clyde May's Whiskey definitely has some unique character that is absolutely attributed to its "Alabama style". So what is Alabama-style whiskey? The addition of oven-dried apples to the barrels during aging is what designates this particular approach. And let me tell you, the results offer a pretty neat (pardon my pun) whiskey experience. Don't be misled! This is not "flavored" like apples. While apple is abundantly prevalent, it is not overwhelming and doesn't taste fake. The apple notes can come off as a touch sweet, so it may not be for everyone. You'll also find some toasty notes with a dash of baking spices. If you're looking for something a little different this one is definitely worth a try.
