Bowman Brothers Small Batch Bourbon

The Bowman family originally settled in Sunset Hills, Virginia in 1927 as a small farming family producing dairy and raising grain. The distillery opened in 1934 the day after Prohibition ended! For decades, they were the only distillery in the state and to this day they make some of the best whiskey south of the Mason Dixon Line. In 2003, the Sazerac company bought the brand but changed nothing in respect to the old school methods of the distillery. The unique use of triple-distillation makes the spirit lighter and easier drinking in the style of many Irish whiskies but the higher proofs and time spent in heavy charred American oak make up the difference with the bold flavors they provide. Notes include honeycomb, peanut brittle, vanilla bean, espresso, and dark chocolate. Boy, we're sure glad these guys are still around.
