Tasting Notes

Seven generations and counting of the Giboin family have been living off the land in the Cognac region of France dating back to the French Revolution. This tiny estate of 12 hectares is focused on making exquisite and rare cognacs in the Borderies cru, the smallest of all six designations. Typically the closest we can get to the greatness of Borderies is in a bottle of Martell Cordon Bleu, but after discovering this estate we've managed to have Francois bottle some exclusive vintages for us directly from single casks. This 2001 was distilled on the lees from 100% Ugni Blanc and aged for 14 years in in a new cask of toasted French Limousin oak. Notes include coconut, orange blossom honey, pear tarts, cinnamon, white peach, mulberries, jasmine flowers, and finishing with lingering flavors of white tea and spicy oak.
