Grappa has a reputation for being rocket fuel. Technically a pomace brandy, Grappa is a distillate from grapes that have been already pressed to make wine. In the old days, stems, skins and seeds would all be thrown into the still and volatile flavors would result. These days, as the winemaking process has become more refined, so have many of the Grappas on the market.
This example is distilled from the exceptionally rare Moscato di Scanzo varietal. It is crafted by the reigning king of Italian distillates Vittorio Capovilla.The flavors and aromas here are exceptional with every red fruit and spice known to man coming through along with a soft, broad texture and a salty finish.
So yes, maybe this Grappa is rocket fuel after all. One sip and you'll find yourself floating amongst the stars.
