Tasting Notes

One of the best sights on our whisky shelves in the past few years has been the presence for the first time in over a generation of distillery bottlings from this legendary producer. Always restrained and understated by nature, this supremely elegant Scotch is nonetheless the epitome of what well aged whisky is all about. Cool, calm and collected on the opening, this is a confident spirit that clearly knows where it comes from and after 21 years in cask it's showing off where it's been with notes of pear tart, jasmine tea, vanilla custard, lime blossom and stewed rhubarb. The palate is dry and focused with a slow entry that blooms with explosive flavors as it moves across the palate ending in a graceful finish punctuated by grain and spice. The answer here is always yes.
