Tasting Notes

Although the Vallein estate officially dates back to 1850, Louis Vallein bought the estate in 1791 and the Vallein family has roots in the Cognac region dating back to 1480. Currently run by the 5th generation of the Vallein-Tercinier clans, there is a deep know how and understanding of the full potential of the region. This profound experience allows this independent family owned producer to take the overlooked Fins Bois appellation to extraordinary new heights. Perhaps the most complex Cognac we've tasted from this cru, the brandy opens with stunning notes of pure maturity that quickly seduce the senses. Deeply floral at its core with notes of incense, potpourri, sous bois, and a bouquet of tropical flowers. There are layers of citrus flavors woven in and with a touch of water, the oak flavors that come forward balance out the other elements and complete the picture here. Bottled at natural cask strength from a single cask from eau de vie distilled in 1988.
