Founder and Distiller Adam Spiegel completely embodies the best of the artisan nature that gets us excited about small batch independent spirits. When you are not afraid to experiment but unwilling to compromise quality, very interesting things can happen. This rye is pot-distilled from a mash of 80% rye from grain sourced in California and Canada and 20% malted rye from the UK. The spirit is then aged in a variety of oak casks prior to bottling at 93 proof.

This 100% rye whiskey distilled just east of Highway 101 in Sonoma County brings a new glass to the table of thirst quenching alcoholic beverages from "wine country." Greeted by a subtle nose of soft leather, toffee, a hint of hot cinnamon, dried apricots and peaches, this whiskey is what my grandpa's library would smell like...if he'd had one. It's pleasantly comforting in that grandpa sort of way. The palate confirms the aromas along with dominant cereal notes, the signature snap of rye and a bittersweet finish. Think grapes are Sonoma's only game in town? In fact much of the grain for this spirit is sourced from California, so grab a bottle from Sonoma Distilling Company and think again!
