We hand selected this single cask at this independent family distiller's historic cellars in the heart of the famous Ténaréze cru in Armagnac. Distilled in 1979, the brand was aged in a single 420 liter French Oak cask made of local Gascon Oak and bottled at a natural cask strength of 40.9% abv with zero additives, zero coloring and zero chill-filtration, part of this domaine's triple-zero philosophy.

There’s an old trope in Kung Fu movies when the protagonist underestimates the shriveled old man who turns out to be a master. That is essentially what happened to me with this Armagnac. Spending so much time aging in wood often leaves the final product bitter, tired, and lacking any resemblance to their younger self. This particular barrel of brandy has defied the odds and produced something humble yet beguiling. Aromas of saddle varnish, dried peaches, crème de caramel, and Turkish delight. The palate is delicate and alive. Taste sugared stone fruits, tobacco, yellow plums, clarified butter, burnt orange peel, bay leaf…it goes on and on. I can’t explain how this Armagnac does it. I just know that it does.
