Old Tub Bottled in Bond Kentucky Bourbon

The story goes that during the mid to late 1800’s, before glass bottles were to be the industry standard, imbibers would fill up their jugs from a “tub” that held the current batch. I prefer a glass bottle, but being so delicious, I would take a nip straight from the tub at the Jim Beam Distillery. This recipe is what inspired the path for Jim Beam bourbon. The mash bill consists of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley. It smells of sweet corn and sour mash. This is a straight-forward bourbon with balance and lofted aromatics. Notes of cinnamon, roasted marshmallow, and honey mingle with vanilla and oak spice. Crème brûlée, tobacco, and cinnamon candy with a balance of oak and grain complements Old Tub's long finish. In the mid-range bourbon category, this well-made whiskey shines with character whether poured neat or in a cocktail.
