Doc Swinson's Alter Ego Cask Strength Bourbon Whiskey

I love Bourbon and I love Cognac, and the good folks at Doc Swinson’s finished this gorgeous distillate in a magical trifecta of Cognac, Oloroso sherry, and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for sixteen months. If that wasn’t enough, they blend and finish in ex-Cognac marrying vats called Foeders. These large oak tanks the size of a car allow the spirits to really cozy up to one another resulting in a perfectly balanced bourbon with a heavy cognac influence ready to be bottled and enjoyed. Aromas of marzipan, nut brittle, and dark cherry entice us and the first sip over-delivers a rich and satisfying palate of cherries, chocolate orange, cinnamon and vanilla custard. Summer has wound down and champagne fueled beach adventures have given way to a fine dram or three by the fire after dinner, and for that, this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
