Mezcal is one of our passions here at Astor and Neta has become one of our go-to sources for exquisite, rare bottlings. Here, father and son, Hermógenes and Jorge Vásquez sourced wild Barril and Mexicanito from the hills of the central valleys. The agaves were harvested in the cool autumn weather and then slow cooked with mezquite in an earthen pit for six days. There's a rich intensity from the Barril with ripe pear and butterscotch, while herbal and floral notes from the cool harvest reveal themselves layer after layer. Small production, as usual. Get this while you can.
