Made from this 19th Century family distiller, this is one of the most interesting and well executed liqueurs we have tasted in quite some time. Created from special, super high altitude blueberries that grow in the Austrian Alps, with wild junipr and touches of lime and ginger. Each ingredient makes its presence known and works to enhance the others. There is minimal sugar added and absolutely zero artificial ingredients or additives. Great for everything from simple spritzes to more complex drinks and applications.

Destillerie Freihof, W. Hämmerle GmbH & Co KG was founded back in 1885. The distilling business was developed from the "Zum Freihof" inn, which was founded in 1885. The Freihof in Lustenau was used as a guest house in the 19th century and was said to be a “popular meeting point for gourmets and Freemasons.” The company’s products are made on site at the family's distillery in Lustenau, Austria. Destillerie Freihof Mirtillo Liqueur is made from alpine blueberries sourced from 2,350m in elevation, lime for freshness, juniper for its herbaceous/antibacterial qualities, and ginger for a spice note/anti-inflammatory properties. What you're left with is a complex, fruit-based liqueur with concentrated blueberry fruit, a bittersweet herbaceousness, and a pleasant and subtle spice on the back palate. Delicious on the rocks with a splash of soda.
