Of all the rice based whiskies from the south of Japan Fukano, based in Kumamoto may very well be making the most complex and full bodied version of all of them. Part of how they get there is with bottlings like this, that combines malted and unmalted local fragrant rice strains and aging in Red Wine and Manzanilla Sherry Casks. Distilled to a lower proof than most whiskies, Fukano spirit naturally retains more of the original flavors of the mash and retains a high concentration when bottled even at a very sippable abv. of 41.6%. Only 2,550 bottles produced for the world of this one-off gem.
