Are you looking for a super yummy alternative to your daily Sauvignon Blanc? Côtes de Gascogne is totally the way to go. While Sauvignon Blanc is not part of the blend, this is wine diffenently acts like a one with citrus dial up a notch and with a nice floral component instead of grassy herbs. The grapes here are Colombard and Ugni Blanc best known as grapes used to make Gascogne better know drink Cognac. Often described as characterless and insipid in this blend they shine as a simple crisp and dry white table wine. Bright fresh with a ton of lemony citrus and just a hint of white flowers to keep you on your toes.

Glossary

Colombard

Colombard was traditionally used, with Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche, to make cognac. It fell out of fashion in France in the 1970s, but at the same time caught on in California, and soon became the most widely planted grape in the state (where it was known as French Colombard). There, it was widely used to produce sweet yet crisp bulk wines. Seeing what the Americans had done, the French would soon welcome the grape back into the fold, taking advantage of California's advances in winemaking...
