Tasting Notes

Farm distilling is nearly extinct in Scotland. For Kilchoman, it is only just beginning, and their 100% Islay is the purest example of the expression “from grain to glass” available on the market. All the barley is grown on-site by a local farmer, then malted in small quantities and made into whisky. 100% Islay is a vatting of multiple ages matured in ex-bourbon casks. Aromas of fresh barley and a slight peat smoke, the palate on this whisky has notes of sugar, malt, spice and smoke. This whisky encompasses the entire production process.
