Half-Bottle of Hans Reisetbauer Carrot Eau de Vie

Item # 31292 375mL

Perhaps the most famous of the widely acclaimed Reisetbauer eau de vies, this is distilled from 100% carrot grown by a local farmer. Using nearly 50 pounds of the vegetables to produce one of these bottles, the result is a concentrated spirit that sings with aromas and flavors of glazed carrots, wet earth, and ripe stone fruits.

Staff Pick Notes

Carrot brandy is definitely something I would never have imagined drinking but here we are, and it's delicious. Sometimes life gives you lemons so you make lemonade, and sometimes your neighbor gives you misshapen carrots so you distill them into a 100% carrot mash eau-de-vie. Carrots have less sugar than fruit, necessitating entire bathtubs of raw roots twice-distilled to produce a single bottle. The result is an expression of carrot-ness so concentrated, delicate, and pure that is delightful to sip neat - yet this would also make a perfect gift for an adventurous cocktail-maker. The slight sweetness of glazed carrots lingers with the earthy aromas of warm, fresh soil as if you have just plucked the carrot from the ground and wrung its nectar into your glass.
