An overlooked classic malt from a distillery dating back over 100 years that translates into one of the best values in the category for us malt lovers. Located in the Northern Highlands this relatively unsung distillery was originally founded in 1897 in the midst of a major Scotch Whisky boom and managed to stay alive through the bust to become for a period the largest distiller in Scotland providing whisky to nearly all of the blended brands. That history and size are two major reasons that Tomatin has been able to keep its age statements and sell their whiskies for unbeatable value. You get a little bit of everything with the flagship 12-year. Notes of vanilla, dried fruits, and spice from the used bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks are woven seamlessly with notes of creamy malt, citrus, apples, honey, and more orchard fruit with a gentle wisp of peat smoke on the finish.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century.
