Tasting Notes

Sicilian Pinot Noir that shows a rugged wildness you don't find in Burgundy. Hailing from Mt Etna, where ashy, volcanic soils ascribe themselves to the wines, this wine demonstrates lively and energetic flavors that work well at the table with grilled meats and hard cheeses.

Staff Pick Notes

What to do with this wine: First of all, buy two bottles. Consume one of them ASAP. Decant the wine for at least one hour, preferably at cellar temperature. This is currently not a showy, fruit forward style of Pinot Noir. Dark cherry is in the mix, but so is the distinct flavor of clove. Tannins present themselves on the front half of the palate. Save the other bottle for as long as you can. Personally, I am quite interested in how this wine will develop over the coming years. If Pinot Noir is your jam, this expression from high altitude vineyards, volcanic soil, and a Mediterranean climate will definitely be a new experience.
