Tasting Notes

This bottle of old vines Meunier comes from 3 parcels in the vineyard of l'Arpent which were planted between 1942 and 1966. This is a rich, full-bodied Champagne. Winemaker Michel Loriot makes incredible Champagnes and is also a fan of music - so much so that classical music from great composers pervades both the winery and the vineyards at all times.

Staff Pick Notes

"If music be the food of love, play on!" Shakespeare's words from the Twelfth Night could not be more apt when savoring the Champagnes of Michel Loriot. The love of music runs deep in this family (their ancestors were musicians), and it plays an integral role at every step in the alchemy of turning grapes into wine. Music is played to the grapes in the vineyard, while Beethoven and Brahms echo through their cellars as the wines age. Even the name, Apollonis, is the muse of art and music. The artistry shines through in all their wines, but especially in this Meunier-based vintage Champagne. Full bodied, rich, creamy, with toasted brioche and a streak of underlying salinity. Everything is seamlessly woven, balanced, in harmony. It's a symphony of pleasure.
