Bourbon what? Pappy who? Do you remember Mic Drop? Now don't get us wrong, we love Bourbon as much as anyone but we also know how hard it is to get great older bottlings and how outrageously expensive many of those whiskies have become. We also know the virtues of unsung categories like Armagnac. Yes it is different but it is also remarkably similar in many ways to American Whiskey. Take the similarities and add 700 years of distilling history, with the variety and depth you get from the many hundreds of independent producers that are still out there and you get Armagnac. Oh and it's MUCH easier to find and at this price most anyone can give it a go.
The blend itself is comprised exclusively of four vintage dated single casks from preeminent producers; 1989 Louis Pibous Cask #61, 1987 Louis Pibous Cask #87, 1994 Domaine Del Cassou Cask #55 & 1997 Domaine Bellair Cask #181. Per usual for PM there are no additives at all and the entire batch has been bottled at cask strength. The brandy is exceptional with tangible depth and complexity and an effusive bouquet that does not fade even after an hour in the glass. Notes include poached pears, grilled pineapple, candied ginger, cinnamon dusted dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. You have to try this!
