Tasting Notes

A stunning Cinsault made from 135 year old vines planted in sandy soil from the Bechtold Vineyard in Lodi. This wine is light on it's feet, showing fresh raspberry flavors and fine tannins on the finish. An excellent choice for the table.

Staff Pick Notes

When the circumstances are just right even the most conservative of us can come out of our shells. Cinsault is not usually bottled on its own. You’ll see it more often playing background bass for a blended wine, offering much needed depth and harmony. Though there are some places in the world that vinify this grape into a solo artist. This particular Cinsault comes from very old vines and sandy soils giving the wine concentration and evocative bouquet. Notes of smoke, raspberries, brine, and dried flowers. Delicate, savory, unique.

Astor's Glossary of Terms

California

California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.
