Grape Variety

Tasting Notes

A dry rosé made of the local Listan Negro grape variety from the volcanic soils of the Canary Islands. Juan Jesus is a proud native of Tenerife and the fourth generation of growers. During the 25 years that he's overseen Bodegas Viñátigo, he has considerably increased its holdings, planting varieties that he and his team recuperated. This rosé is a delicious match for all kinds of seafood and meats.

Staff Pick Notes

It's time to expand your rosé horizons! The Canary Islands are a singular wine growing region in many ways. Although part of Spain, the islands are located off the coast of Morocco. In the unique, mineral rich volcanic soil grow vines that are extremely old, having escaped the phylloxera pest that devastated many of Europe's wine regions. Winemaker Juan Jesus and his wife Elena, who handles production, are also academics who have remarkably identified 82 indigenous grape varieties on the islands! This is a one of a kind rosé. Aromas of black tea, spice, tobacco, and smoke are as present as the blood orange and pomegranate that land on your palate. Pair with spiced meat or vegetable tagine or with blackened fish.
