A clone of the great Sangiovese grape, used to make the famed Brunello di Montalcino red wines of Tuscany. Wines made of this particular clone are among the most complex and rich expressions of the pure grape variety, yielding robust, voluptuous wines with great depth and aging potential. Typical notes include leather, earth, plums, and spices. Potentially the most tannic and ageworthy of the Sangiovese-based wines.
