Far Niente consistently makes an exquisite Chardonnay that's one of the true gems of large-production Napa whites. It's big and powerful, sure. But it's also balanced, sophisticated, complex, and avoids Napa tendencies towards excess: no Viognier or juice blended in, and while the new oak influence is significant they prevent malolactic conversion to keep the acidity lively and richness in check. This is a perfect choice when trying to satisfy both the Napa devotee and the snobby wine nerd (like me).
