Staff Pick Notes

Primitivo is one of the oldest cultivated grape varietals in the world. Gioia Del Colle refers to the nearby town and translates to Hill of Joy. Puglia is the wine region centered on the Achilles of the heal on boot of Italy. Grape have been cultivated for making wine since the 7th century...BC. All this adds up to a beautiful wine--unoaked, native yeast fermented wine with no modern manipulation. With fresh and bright dark dark fruit and notes of earth and leather, this is classic Primitivo. It's full and complex, but not overly tannic, and ready to drink now. Would be great with all kinds of food, especially goat cheese. That should take you to the hill of joy--at least while the bottle lasts.
