Tasting Notes

Over the past few years Letherbee has proven peerless when it comes to truly innovative and experimental gins. Their bi-annual one-off seasonal releases are some of the most exciting things you will find in the spirits world. The 2020 Vernal uses their flagship gin, made from scratch, as its base that is then re-distilled with heaps of horseradish from one of the world's top growers in nearby Collinsville, Illinois of this exceptioally spicy and pungent root vegetable. On last tasting we found that the base gin was not lost at all and in fact carries the horseradish incredibly well, keeping it from overpowering everything else. The notes were vibrant, super fresh, earthy, full of citrus, spicy pepper and wasabi flavors with a soft satin like texture. With peak summer tomato season upon us, switch this out in your Bloody Mary's for the best Red Snapper you've ever had.

Staff Pick Notes

Attention horseradish lovers! You do not want to miss out on Letherbee's latest seasonal release--horseradish-infused gin! It's the sign of a great spirit when with one sip you start conjuring up all the cocktails you want to make. All that horseradish, black pepper, lemon and pine brought visions of Bloody Marys (or rather, Red Snappers as they're called when made with gin) and martinis with a dash of celery bitters and all manner of fun garnishes: lemon-marinated olives (wrapped in an anchovy?), pickled cherry tomatoes and onions (pickled anything really). How about a skewer of pickled beets paired with whitefish canapes? Once you get riffing it's hard to stop, but this is so good you won't want to.
