Tasting Notes

A classic, crowd-pleasing rose that is sure to be a summer favorite. Made from Chenin Blanc that is separately vinified and then blended with bold, juicy Zinfandel and Syrah, which are stainless-fermented for optimal freshness. Flavors of ripe peach and juicy stone fruits, strawberry and pink grapefruit, along with plenty of crisp, refreshing acidity.

Staff Pick Notes

It's not every day you see rosé made from primarily Chenin Blanc, from California no less. I was skeptical at first but the light color and the ease of a screw cap won me over. I'm glad I tried it! Bright and fresh with a nice amount of body and texture. This is an easygoing summer porch pounder with some aromatic appeal and a nice dry finish. Check it and see!

Astor's Glossary of Terms

California makes more wine than any other state in the United States. Not only does the state grow a variety of noble grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, there are also plantings of lesser-known varieties such as Nebbiolo, Roussanne and Mourvèdre to name just a few.

Let it never be said, however, that Shiraz and Syrah are the same thing: the region in which the grape is grown determines much about the flavor of the wine it...

Zinfandel is widely thought of as “America’s grape,” but in fact the variety is of Croatian origin, and is genetically extremely similar to Italian Primitivo, which thrives in the warmest parts of southern Italy. Like Primitivo, Zinfandel requires warm but not hot growing conditions, as its skins are relatively thin: this can cause its berries to shrivel into raisins if left on the vine a little...

Chenin Blanc

A versatile grape that is grown worldwide, but is most commonly associated with the Loire, California, Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand. It produces just about any type of wine you can think of: ageworthy dessert wines; delicious, honeyed dry whites; sparklers; and even bases for fortified wines and spirits. These days, one of the most exciting stories is in South Africa, where newly...
