Tasting Notes

Artist Sandro Chia, owner of the Montalcino-based Castello di Romitorio estate, provides the colorful label art for his stellar wines. His elegant and well-perfumed Brio is a top-value Tuscan red that has engaging peppery, red berry-cherry fruit.

Staff Pick Notes

Castello di Romitorio is a flashy star in the constellation of Tuscan estates. They produce renowned Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti wines, as well as their own Super Tuscan wine based on Syrah. Here is one of their entry-level wines that brings along some of their charismatic charm. It is a fresh, more fruit-driven style of Sangiovese that's meant to be consumed in its youth. You could say it's a more "international" style, but to me this is the epitome what makes Tuscany so great. Its core is brimming with dense, dark fruits with herbal notes in perfect harmony. Like taking in the pleasant breeze over the iconic sunny hillside vineyards in Montalcino. Life is fleeting. Why not pause and toast to every day pleasures like this.
