Tasting Notes

Heitz is a family-run winery that has been operating since the early 1960s, making classically styled wines that are at once subtle and layered in complexity. This wine showcases the long growing season with dense dark cherry and currant fruit and a core of bright acidity. Vanilla and spice notes frame these flavors, with well-integrated, fine-grained tannins knitting it all together. Drinking well already, this is sure to offer pleasure for many, many years to come.

Staff Pick Notes

Such Great Heitz! This is a stellar 2012 Napa Cab with layers and layers of beauty showing right now. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and sees 3 years of oak aging, truly showcasing the varietal as well as classic Napa style. On the nose: cassis, black cherries, vanilla, sautéed mushrooms, fresh turned earth, vibrant cedar wood, cinnamon, balsamic, black pepper, orange peel, and dark chocolate-covered violets. On the palate, it has great acidity and robust but refined tannins, ending with an exquisitely long finish. If you love Napa Cab, Heitz will delight your heart and soul. Drink tonight with a rib eye steak or cellar for years to come!
