Später-Veit

Piesport, Mosel, Germany Piesport is located in the southeastern corner of Germany in the Rhineland-Palatinate, near the historic city of Trier. The vineyards around Piesport are some of the oldest in the world; viticulture has been going on in this unlikely, cold, steep region since the Roman era. Später-Veit is a family estate that received fresh energy when Heinz Welter took over the vineyards and cellar of his wife’s father, Theo. Silvia Welter, who along with her husband run the estate has been working as a wine grower and producer since 1976. Heinz’s passion for classic dry Burgundy drives the style of this classic German Riesling house. His wines are delicate, balanced and expressive. As a nod to the French region, he also grows a few plots of Pinot Noir. However, the couple are absolute devotees of the entire spectrum of German Riesling - sweet to dry and true ambassadors of their precipitously sloped region.
