Half-Bottle of Broadbent, Rainwater Madeira

Item # 11470 375mL

Clear copper in color, this classic and very appealing Madeira breathes scents of dried dates, figs, and mixed nuts. Smooth and gently sweet, it's not a "sticky" dessert wine, but shows good fresh-fruit sweetness built on Madeira's sturdy core of tart, lemony acidity.

Staff Pick Notes

Enter Madeira: One of Portugal's most beloved and prized possessions! A fortified wine with a rich history that stretches back to the days of exploration. This Rainwater Madeira is aged 3 years in oak casks and is a young energetic expression. The hue is a shimmering golden copper, the nose is an enticing array of dried apricots and waxed vanilla fig. On the palate you get gentle waves of sun baked golden raisins with a tap dancing dissipation of toasted almond. Great for cooking or sipping as an aperitif. A 375ml bottle with this much taste of terrior is a "must half"! Insert rain dance here.

They also show their terroir quite clearly, and represent a great alternative to the modern fruit-driven style. Vinho Verde is Portugal’s most famous white wine. Literally translated as "green wine," it...
