Intro to South African Wines

6:00pm to 8:00pm
Never tried the fantastic wines of South Africa? Well, we’re tasting from two fixtures of the South African wine industry. Winemaker Adi Badenhorst was influenced by Serge Hochar of Ch. Musar fame and works in a minimalist style. We’ll try Badenhorst’s honeyed and mineral-driven “Secateurs” Chenin Blanc as well as a juicy red blend. Then, we’ll crack open a bold and sturdy Syrah-Mourvèdre blend à la northern Rhône from the Sadie Family winery.

The Legendary Wines of Lebanon

6:00pm to 8:00pm
It only seems natural that one of the most consistently exciting winemakers around is found in the most unlikely of places—in this case, Ch. Musar of Lebanon. Although tasters may try to characterise them as Bordeaux-like, Rhône-like, or Burgundy-like, it’s clear that the wines of Musar are wholly unique. We’ll be sampling a slew of reds and whites from various vintages—youthful quaffers and seriously complex agers alike.

Reds of Montalcino

6:00pm to 8:00pm
The Mastrojanni estate is one of the finest Brunello producers in Tuscany. This certified-organic estate upholds low interventionist principles, aiming to preserve the natural fruit and character of Sangiovese as it ferments and goes into barrels for maturity. Taste a bit of Montalcino history: we’ll be sampling Mastrojanni's elegant Rosso and beautiful Brunello.

Trip to Italy

6:00pm to 8:00pm
Italy has an amazing array of wine varietals—give some of the lesser-known grapes a shot. Set aside Pinot Grigio for a spell when you sample the crisp and floral Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi “Solagne” of Fattoria Dezi. Then, try the exceptionally-balanced Vino Nobile di Montepulciano of Podere Il Macchione—which features a clone of the Sangiovese grape called “Prugnolo”.

Italian Gems

6:00pm to 8:00pm
Sometimes all you need is a great value red that pairs with pizza. Look no further than these Italian gems: we’re tasting a juicy Pinot Nero (Italian Pinot Noir!) from Serfanini & Vidotto with flavors of strawberry, cranberry, and vanilla; then we’ll sample Velenosi’s Rosso Piceno “Il Brecciarolo”—full of red berries, floral nuances, and spice.

Italy: Familiar and New

6:00pm to 8:00pm
Love Italy? Here’s an opportunity to try something familiar and something unexpected from Europe's beloved boot. We’ll be sampling Val delle Corti’s very traditional Chianti Classico, with its abundant red-berry fruit, savory almond notes, and finely-etched tannis. And for a taste of something completely different, we’ll also be pouring a natural cider from Valle d'Aosta that’s ripe, dry, and downright appley.
