Picpoul de Pinet "Cuvée Dames", Gaujal de St. Bon - 2022

Item # 12378 750mL

An exciting and unusual white wine made in southwest France from the Picpoul Blanc grape. Light and dry, this has lemony aromas, raw honey flavors on the palate, and even a nice little kick of mineral on the finish. The Mediterranean climate of this appellation gives its wines plenty of acidity, and this one goes well with a huge range of foods. It's tasty on its own, too.

Staff Pick Notes

Field notes on Picpoul de Pinet: 1. Picpoul de Pinet is the proper AOP designation while Piquepoul is the correct spelling of the grape variety. 2. This is the only AOP in the Languedoc dedicated solely to white wine production. 3. This wine is often lumped into the cheap and cheerful category and isn't taken as seriously as it should be. 4. Mom and Daughter team Simonne and Virginie Gaujal work hard to raise the bar on the wine made in this region, keeping harvest yields low, using only natural yeasts for fermentation, and aging the wine on its lees to add body and texture. The next time you want a refreshing white wine that's anything but simple, buy this and see how much it offers!
