Milan Nestarec, "Podfuck" - 2019

Item # 35566 750mL

A unique cuvée that has now evolved into a red wine. Made from Blaufränkisch, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris which are co-fermented spontaneously in open-top vats then pressed and aged in big old barrels of a local oak and acacia wood. It rests on the lees for 2 years before bottling unfiltered and without any addition of sulphur.

Staff Pick Notes

This is a skin contact Pinot Gris that will change your life. When pouring this wine in your glass you will notice it is more Rosé then Orange one would expect. this is due to Pinot Gris being an peculiar bugger of a grape. some white berry and some deep purple. If you flip this staff pick over you will see what I mean. Nutty crusted red berry notes and salty sea air wisping through freshly washed hair. Smokey awe inspiring palate that is laced in layer upon layer of funk and beauty. Bright acidity and crystal clear ocean water. Clean, intergrated and mind blowing. There are only a few of these bottles out there so get your hands on one while you can.

Glossary

Blaufränkisch

Germans call it Lemberger, Austrians call it Blaufränkisch; let's call the whole thing off. Terroir, the concept that wines from a specific region have unique and identifiable traits, is intricately...

Pinot Gris

Pinot Grigio is an Italian synonym for the French Pinot Gris variety, but many more people have had Pinot Grigio than a Pinot Gris. At its most basic level, the grape produces varietals that are smooth and easy to drink, and perfect with a huge range of dishes that just beg to be paired with a fresh white wine. There is an entire spectrum of Pinot Gris/Grigio, however, the best of them being subtly aromatic and deeply colored, with formidable structures. Most of Italy's Pinot Grigio is grown in...
