I sympathize with the modern American winemaker. She has to build and sell wines like Olympic athletes, boxing them in predetermined categories to take home medals. How terribly stifling! This wine is primarily Sauvignon Blanc blended with a handful of other Italian varietals. The result is something wonderfully atypical. A bouquet of orange blossom, rich custard, and exotic citrus. At the core of the palate are plump citrus fruits skewered with rich minerals from end to end. You won’t see this competing with other 100% Sauvignon Blanc wines. You’ll see this at the top of the podium in the Freestyle category.
