Grappa is made from the distillation of fresh grape skins. This Barolo grappa is created using Nebbiolo grapes, the ones used for the making of Barolo wine. Steam still are used for the distillation of this product. This kind of still allows the elimination of impurities. The result is a cleaner and purer flavor. Then this grappa is transferred into chestnut barrels, Chestnut plants are very common in this hilly part of Italy. Grappa is mostly used as an after dinner drink. Sometimes it is added to coffee. If you travel to Italy, you can go in any coffee bar and ask for "Caffe' corretto"...or you can try at home!
