Tasting Notes

Dark red cherries and dusty tannins dominate on this off the beaten path red. Fleshy fruits expound against an herbal background replete with confiture cherry and fresh picked black raspberry. Very similar to ripe Cabernet Franc, this Canadian Pinot Meunier is a surprising find. Versatile on the table with pork, poultry and grilled vegetables.

Staff Pick Notes

Do you like to root for the underdog? Then you're likely to enjoy this puppy. To start, it's made in Canada, not generally known for their wines (though that's quickly changing). This wine is 100% Pinot Meunier, a cool-climate grape rarely seen outside of Champagne where it is vinified sparkling and usually white. Pinot Meunier is rarely seen as a single-varietal still red wine. Fragrant, with sweet cherry, floral notes and a touch of spice, the wine is light-bodied and low in tannin, making for easy drinking on its own or as a lovely pairing with turkey and vegetables. Fans of New York reds should check this out, as it exhibits many similar characteristics.
